t3h Blox0r is a new (ok, I did not know about it before today!) Online Aggregator based on XUL (XML User Interface Language).
The best online aggregator ever!
Keep your blogroll on the web.
Enjoy your favorite blogs everywhere.
And much more things to come.
Best of all, it is FREE!
I’m always trying to find interesting stuff on the net, I make extensive use of Feeds and I’m also addicted to new technologies (with an edge for distributed content and “mobile” stuff).
I wrote about Pluck and Blogbridge a few posts ago. Those were interesting piece of softwares/services… especially blogbridge (which spawned a new Weekly Version right a couple of days ago). You may or may not like them. I did. Mainly because I read my feeds no matter where I am. Even on public computers (like at the university) and so I need a centralized remote online space to store my feeds.
Anyway “change is good”. The OPML format gave me the opportunity to export/import my feeds into various services and softwares. So I tried this Blox0r service.
First impression is what counts the most: nice interface.
XUL (XML User Interface Language) is a user interface markup language developed to support Mozilla applications like Mozilla Firefox and Mozilla Thunderbird. Like UIML, it is an application of XML that describes user interfaces. The acronym is pronounced zool, to rhyme with “cool”.
from wikipedia
It really seems like you are using a desktop application and not a website. The overall layout is nice and it has all the basic features you could expect from an aggregator. Unfortunately it runs only on Gecko Powered browsers like Firefox. We’ll see improvements soon: there’s a forum where you can leave comments and requests. This service seems interesting and I really hope the guys at Blox0r won’t stop adding features.
I’ll keep an eye on it.
